Dukk put the news aside, closed his eyes and focused on the creed. He recited it in his head. “Focus on that which is real in the heart. Create the space so that the process can emerge. Honour that which serves you well. Engage in the journey as it unfolds.”
When he opened his eyes, the others were still at the table, staring at him.
At the other end of the long table, was Mentor.
Mentor hid his forty-nine years well. He was tall, muscular and of dark brown complexion, with cool undertones. He had dark brown eyes and short black hair with wisps of grey.
Mentor had joined Dukk’s crew one month earlier at the start of the adventure that saw the end of Dukk’s beloved Dinatha. Mentor was taken on as a generalist, owing to his experience with all aspects of keeping inter-galactic rigs moving. He also had medical qualifications. These skills had already been put to good use.
Dukk had just learnt that Mentor was acting as a double agent. That news went a long way to explaining Mentor’s odd behaviour over the last month. However, it wasn’t enough. Mentor was still very much a mystery to Dukk.
“That is about to change!” Dukk thought to himself.
